CLOE WILDER: CRYING WHEN I SHOULDN'T

music video

“Crying When I Shouldn’t” revolves heavily around the line “I’m saving myself ‘cause I can’t save you.” It means learning to recognize that although there were good things about the relationship, there’s also a time when you need to learn to let go.

The paint represents this--Cloe paints over her memories in the room that represents her inner thoughts (which translates into also letting go in her flashbacks). In the end, when we pull back to reveal her room and paint-splattered dress, we see that she’s managed to save herself but doesn’t come out completely unscathed.
